Hoog Catharijne is known mainly as a shopping area. What many people don’t know is that there are apartment blocks and offices above Hoog Catharijne, that there is 24-hour security, that there are people who have worked in the complex since it opened, and that ‘chips pigeons’ also live there. In preparation for Call of the Mall, the artists investigated Hoog Catharijne and turned it inside out.
In the educational programme, children investigate Hoog Catharijne in the same way that the artists have. They ask themselves: what do I see? What do I think of this place? How will this area look in the future?
The educational programme begins with an introduction by an instructor in The Studio of Call of the Mall on the Jaarbeursplein. Each child receives a shopping bag with research material. The children investigate Hoog Catharijne under the guidance of the instructor. They record all their findings.
